Born in Hue, Vietnam in 1964. Obtained his BFA from Hue University in 1988. Artist-in-residence at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1995, and in the USA, Vermont Studio Center (1997), Indochina Arts Partnership in Newton Center, Boston (1998), and The University of North Texas (1999). Lecturer at Faculty of Arts, Hue University. Lives and works in Hue.

During residency
Children and adults in the local cities were invited to fold lotus flowers on papers that illustrated their dreams. Totaling 3,000 flowers, they were put together in an outdoors installation Field of Hope. Inside the studio, Paul Gaugin’s quotation, Where Do we Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? was rendered in the installation Untitled, made of wood and sand collected in the local area.
