The device of making strange for this place

We are pleased to announce taking place of the exhibition The device of making strange for this place.

This is a special occasion to experience the program, Wonders of creation in the daily life here -workshops for a filming of Hiroyuki Oki which was stared in 2015.
Hiroyuki Oki will show the film from its traces of activity with participants who live around Moriya, Ibaraki. And Yukino SEO will present installation inspired from her participation to the workshops as an artist and from her own activities expanded with some participants.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Moriya civic gallery and share this special event with you.

【Artists' profile】

Hiroyuki OKI

Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1964. Bases his activities in Kochi.
In 1988 Hiroyuki Oki obtained a B.A. in Department of Architecture, Engineer, Tokyo University.
His major exhibitions include Aichi Triennale 2016 Rainbow Caravan (Aichi, Japan, 2016), Doing History! (Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka, Japan, 2016), Hiroshima Trilogy: 70th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing, Part Ⅰ Life=Work (Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, Hiroshima, Japan, 2015), Out of the Ordinary : New Video from Japan (MOCA Grand Avenue, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, USA, 2007),The Age of Micropop : The New Generation of Japanese Artists (Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito, Mito, Japan, 2007)

Yukino SEO

Born in Tochigi, Japan in 1992. Lives and works in Tokyo. 
In 2015 Yukino Seo obtained a B.A. in Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts. She held the exhibition Deadhenge/Aesthetic with Hiroyuki Oki at HIGURE17-15cas,Tokyo in 2015. She received HEISEI Art Prize 2016 Awarded to outstanding artists graduating Tokyo University of the Arts for her art work Beyond the Prism, and it was exhibited at the winners' exhibition Future Great Artists. Her artworks employ a fusion of media, including installation, photography, video and painting. She is currently enrolled in graduate school at Tokyo University of the Arts.
