This is the first time for me to visit to Japan.
I have read the book and saw the map of Japan since my childhood and been very interested in Japan. Therefore, I am very pleased to be here.
This is the first time for me to join the residence program for such a long period.
I enjoy the stay in Moriya so far. It was exciting to know that we can buy everything at once in a huge place like Joyful Honda. I am glad to have the opportunities of social gathering to see a lot of people.
Through the stay in Moriya, I would like to understand Japanese culture, customs, rituals, foods etc. These things as well as Moriya’s landscape (rice field, rivers etc.), and cleanness and quietness of the city inspires me a lot to create my work.
The studio space which is former classroom or to see the little children who come to the child care center which is next room to us, reminds me of my childhood. Here, all furniture is small in the scale and colorful, and I realized the fact that these are very universal for everyone. So, I naturally pick up the small objects and materials for my work to visualize the dreamed classroom again.
Although I am studying Japanese, I know it is difficult to acquire Japanese in such short period. However, I am planning to create the work which is more interactive so that we can communicate each other through the arts.
