Tatsuo Majima

Born in Tokyo in 1970. Graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK in 1993. Lives and works in Kanagawa.

During residency
Majima worked on multiple projects. He wrote a novel, took photographs, produced a large-scale sculpture using FRP. Gave a series of lectures and workshops on Japanese art history and criticism to children.

Majima talked about why he is interested in wrapping/coating object, by introducing Venus de Milo, a tempura piece he created in 1994, and going through history of modern and contemporary art.
