Biography
Born in Tokyo in 1962. Obtained MFA from Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music in 1989. Lives and works in Tokyo.
During residency
Identifying the similarities between Moriya Town and his hometown Kodaira City, Iwai setup the Moriya-Kodaira Sister Cities Project. He interviewed local residents of both communities, and found latent commonalities, as well as differences in the residents' conscience and local landscape. The process of discussions with mayors and local residents were recorded and turned into sound and visual images.
