Open Studio 2008

ARCUS Project 2008 IBARAKI | OPEN STUDIO

ARCUS, a (present) (progressive) form of Artist-in-residence

ARCUS has invited 67 artists from 22 countries and regions for 13 years. A number of works which required "time", and only became possible at certain place and situation through the stay in Moriya have evolved so far.

In 2008, there were 350 applications, the largest number ever, from all over ther world. This year's three artists have been selected through the first selection by ARCUS Project, and final selection by three international curators. They all show distinguished talents and potentials in their activities.

Three artists have working on the projects for about three months. Every work shows remarkable strength and density which are based on the participation and cooperation of the local community and volunteers during the process. Aiming to be a "global standard" and "community-based" program at the same time, we are pleased to invite you to our Open Studio for experiencing the rich performance of ARCUS Project artist-in-residence.
